This post was started on July 8. We did not have internet access, so instead of starting a whole new post, I will continue this one. After this I will try to go in chronological order, but no guarantees. :-)

So, I have been lacking in the blogging department, kinda hard to blog when there’s no internet access in our room, so we relented and purchased some.

This conference has been amazing! New York City is HUGE!

I am finding it hard to focus on what I want to say, because I am still living in the moment and there is so much I want to say that everything is mashed together.

I suck.

So, I will post pictures.

Yesterday (July 7) we spent the day in Times Square and visited the Empire State Building.

When you see the media reports of Times Square being busy, packed and full of people, I can say it is very much true! There are people EVERYWHERE! We took the subway into the city and I can say, very proudly that I pretty much get the subway system now. Although, in the city’s defense, it’s pretty easy getting from Brooklyn to say, Times Square. All you have to do is hop on the 2 or 3 and take it to 42nd/Times Square. Either train will get you uptown.

Yes, it is a proud moment!

Our first order of business was to visit the Empire State Building. I expected a long line. Hours of waiting and standing around, but it wasn’t like that. The time we waited in line was about 30 minutes. We took the elevator up to the 82nd floor where when we got there, we saw the most most amazing views!

The views are breath taking and will let them speak for themselves!

Knoah wasn’t too keen with the idea of being up there. He was definitely scared! I don’t know if he thought Will was going to chuck him over or what but Will had to hold Knoah toward the back of the wall b/c the slightest movement forward caused Knoah to whimper and start wiggling.

On the one side, people were taking pictures down. Curious, I managed to get up to the railing where I saw this….

Brave, brave soul!

We shopped 5th Ave

and I behaved!

I bought a pair of sunglasses and the kids got some toys. We too Hannah to the American Girl store where she adopted “Vanna”. That was quite a traumatic event. Most girls would want to buy the whole store, my daughter burst out into tears because she couldn’t choose a doll. She was so overwhelmed with the whole situation that I choose 3 dolls for her to choose from and she stands at the counter crying her eyes out. It was very sad! Hannah wanted a doll that “looked like” her and I found 3 dolls, each varying in appearance, but still had dark hair, dark eyes and a light/medium skin tone. She, instead of falling in love with each one, is saying “this one won’t work because” or “she has log hair and I don’t”, this went on and on for an hour, so finally I choose one for her and told her how beautiful she was and she made a good choice….at the point she perked up and we went about choosing an outfit.

Hannah is still wearing this outfit. She won’t take it off. So, I will indulge her and let her wear it. It’s not everyday a little girl chooses a doll that looks like herself, complete with matching outfit.

Times Sq. is unlike anything I have ever seen before! We don’t have these things in Monroe. We don’t have these kinds of people in Monroe. Even the homeless are different. It is a culture shock.

When we left Times Sq. last night or I should say Toys R Us, yes, I know, we didn’t come to NYC to go Toys R Us, but we were assured that it was something we didn’t want to miss…they were right! 4 huge levels of FUN! I digress, when we walked out of the toy store, Times Sq. was so lit up, we had too look to the sky to remind us it was dark! It was 10pm and on street level, it looked noon!
