On NBC’s show Celebrity Apprentice last night, the teams were to come up with an ad campaign for All Small and Mighty laundry detergent.

Needless to say, the direction both teams took was that All Small and Mighty would be hysterically funny featuring Little People or using the words of several of the program celebrities, “Midgets”.

This has been the main topic of conversation on both Facebook and POLP.

Well, NBC apparently wants to know your thoughts about the show and to find out how many people found it offensive that they used “Little People” in their commercials. THIS is NOT the ISSUE!

The issue at hand is that they continually used the word “Midget” to refer to Little People and even asked one of the actor’s if they preferred to be called Midget or Little Person!!

Go to NBC’s site and take part in the poll. It was offensive that they used a word that many find offensive and degrading.

I did find it interesting that while both Trump kid’s questioned the use of the word, neither objected and allowed the contestants to continue with their plans.

On a side note: Neither commercials were funny and certainly didn’t endear themselves to me to rush out and buy All Small and Mighty. If anything, I won’t buy it, nor will I be watching Celebrity Apprentice again.

To read what terms are acceptable when referring to a Little Person, please read this post.

Those celebrities just didn’t have the respect for the LP community and I was shocked at some of the things that were coming out of their mouths.

I have an obligation to at the very least, let all of the readers of this blog know that this word is highly offensive and not under any circumstances appropriate. Please, please, please do not refer to my son, my friends, or anyone short of stature as a “midget”. If you could also do me the favor and politely correct anyone you hear using this word. The correct words are “little person, short statured,” and/or “person who has dwarfism.”
