My secret obsession….
When I found out we were having another baby and it was going to be a boy, I wanted to come up with a creative name.
But, since I have this secret obsession that all my children’s names have to be Hebrew (I don’t know why, so don’t ask) I was limited as too what to call him.
I came up with a really good one. Caanan. Will, however, said no.
I had to go back to the drawing board. I loved the name “Noah”, but with our last name being five letters, “Noah Sweat” doesn’t look right to me. I needed another letter, so the “K” came into play. I was hesitant on adding the “K” but when the doctor’s informed us that Knoah was going to be different anyways, I gave in.
What a better way of confusing people! Name him Knoah with a K and he’s a little person! PERFECT!
A way for him to be remembered, in more ways than one!
That is my way of finding humour in things. So, today, while doing what I have been doing (another post, not good, the reason for my sleepless nights) I came across this website that calculates how many people of me there are there in the US.
According to howmanyofme.com there are:
WoW! A whole 6 people! So I checked Knoah…
1! There is one of Knoah! I have found utopia! Unique in every way!
How did you come up with your little one’s name?
ETA: We came up with Jacob’s name because I wanted my first born to be a boy and I loved the name Jacob. Matthew is his middle which I chose after my sister’s ex and Reagan, for President Reagan. Dad had to have a say!
Hannah I also love growing up and Noel was a spur of the moment. We couldn’t find anything to go with Hannah we like so I rationalized it as she was due right before Christmas, so we gave he the name Noel!

Aaron Daniel: The Daniel is for his cousin, Aaron sounded good. A girl twin might have been Karen Danielle.
Adam Elijah: Elijah for his maternal grandpa, Adam because only a Biblical name works with Elijah.
Briahna Kay: Kay is Briahna’s mom’s middle name, Briahna worked well with it. She wanted to name Adam this is he was a girl, only because it sounded good. I got to name the girl this time round and I stuck with it.
Ryan Patrick: It just kinda happened. After three, you’re grasping at straws for names …

Simone was named by the doctor who delivered her, she had lots of black hair and big round eyes, he held her in his arms and sang some song with the name Simone in it, and thats when I decided to settle on that name (its Hebrew by the way) Nicole was dads choice it was a bunch of names in a hat, with “PETUNIA” being one of the many choices needless to say when we pulled Nicole I said there would be no chance of a second draw!!!! so Nicole was to say. Leah was my choice I also liked Sophia ….. but nothing sounds as nice as Little Leah and its also Hebrew!!!! So at least I got to name one of my kids!!!

Samuel Paul Joseph: I just loved the name Sam, and Paul is Jeff’s middle name. All of my boys have Joseph as a second middle name since it’s my maiden name.
Jacob Lee Joseph: Liked the name Jacob, although we’ve called him “Bubba” all his life and Lee is my brothers middle name.
Thomas Jay Joseph: Thomas sounds like a strong name (same reason I picked the other two boys names) and Jay is my grandpa’s name.
I love this, by the way. Sometimes I wonder how people came up with the names of their children, especially the ones that are way out there! Of course, none of your readers fall into that category. Two other names I absolutely love are Simon and Jonah for the record!

And of course, Colleen Michelle….My dad was obsessed with the name Colleen and asked if he could name her as soon as we found out she was a girl! And, Michelle is my middle name, and I was named after my dad, Michael, so it seemed very fitting!

So there are 96 of me out there and I personally know one of the others!
Daniel David — (You don’t get more hebrew than that!) We just thought “Daniel” was a good strong name. Easy to spell, changeable into different nicknames, and known across the world. The last charachteristic because both of my parents are Czech (mom born in Ukraine, dad in Romania) so we have family friends and relatives from all over. I was influenced by my mom that it was important to have a name family could pronounce. Normally I wouldn’t let her drive my decisions like this but I really liked Daniel anyway. David is his dad’s name.
Jacob Dylan — (hebrew again, though just by coincidence). Like above, easy to spell, changeable into nicknames, etc. Plus I wanted him to have my initials since Daniel has his dad’s. Other top runners were: Owen and Aiden. But my parents have a pretty thick accent and I didn’t want them butchering my son’s name everytime they said it. That sealed the deal on Jacob. I didn’t give in on “Dylan” though.
Loved the post…so much fun!

I wanted names for the children that werent the most popular and that were short so that they wouldnt be shortened. Leo Oliver was a suggestion from the midwife whilst i was having a painful contraction. it took us 6 days to make the final decision. i have no idea why we chose Oliver..we both just liked it. (His name occasionaly get s shortened to LEE and was the 6th most common name that year after not being in the top 100 in previous years). Fern is the name of a morning TV presenter that always makes me laugh and i thought was pretty and wasnt in the top 100 list! Bob wanted Erin so that is her second name. there is another girl in our village who will be in the same year as her at school called fern who also has blonde hair and blue eyes so not unique! I have asked that she be known as fern s or ferne and not little fern at the nursery!

Fun post! Simon David was a name that we have just liked for a long time, and we too like Hebrew, Biblical names (Simon Peter and King David). Simon means to hear or be heard and David means beloved.
There are 21 people with Simon’s name.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

My husband is a cop and he loves his Ruger gun, and we wanted something different, so that’s how we came up with Ruger (I’m not sure I enjoy telling that story, I’d like it to be a little more symbolic or special, but that’s the truth.)
And then when we got pregnant with our second we were watching Bridge to Teribithia and we started going through old storybook names. We got to Huck and Finn and then settled on Sawyer. It’s really fit him well. And now we have the “-er” theme going at the end so were thinking of sticking with that!
That’s awesome that there’s only one Knoah! I think that’s very clever on your part!

Seamus was a name I first heard at age 8, when my youngest sister was in Pre-K and had an adorable classmate with thet name. I always loved it and have had it stuck in my head since then! (Luckily, my hubby loved it too!) I also wanted to honor my Irish heritage. His middle name is John, after my father.
Grace is named after my grandmother, who passed away in 2004. Her middle name, Maureen, is after my aunt and godmother. I really love using family names! Although I am stumped if we have another baby

Taylor Nicole: Taylor is named after John’s father, who passed away before we even met. Nicole is my sister’s middle name.
Trace Robert: Trace because I wanted a “t” name and since our last name is Davis, it had to be different. Robert is my father’s name.
I was really hung up on what rhymed with their names and ensuring their initials weren’t too bad to be made fun of – of course, I guess I didn’t realize that Trace’s initials, TRD, could be pronouced “Terd”, but thanks to my cousin, I know that now. Oh, well, I still like his name

Tiffany – We all have to have that memorable story…you have one! Great story!
I loved reading everyone’s stories how they came up with their kid’s names! Every one is special!!

Mine will be a little different. Alfred Leong Zhen Wen. A chinese name usually come with meaning. Leong is the family name, a surname of one family. Chinese family name are written first. Our children have to inherit the father’s family name. Zhen mean to be a strong person while Wen mean educated. The name was based on the no of strokes of the chinese character names when the Zhen and Wen combined in relation to his birth time. Alfred is a name we got from a baby name book. We name him Alfred when he was 4 months old.

Hey this is Brandy. Bryan’s mom. I got his first name from his dad and his middle name came from my great-grandpa who was the most amazing man I know. Neither first or middle names are that different or unique but ment alot. Naming him after his dad was really important to me and i think the names went really well together.

Sawyer’s name came from my love of Mark Twain. Huckleberry Hutcherson doesn’t really work, though! Thomas is the name of almost every male relative, so we couldn’t use Thomas Sawyer…but we also love the show LOST and the Sawyer on there. So, we picked that! Franklin is his middle name, and that is for my dad and the three men before him.
Since I am a Jennifer, I wanted my child to have a more unique name. It was choosen after MUCH deliberation!
